The ball bearing is a mechanical system that enables rotation between a rotating and a fixed element. The single-row ball bearing consists mainly of two rings, a cage and several balls in a single row. In fact, this bearing has an inner ring, an outer ring and the cage that holds the balls in position relative to each other.
The rings of these products are subjected to many shocks on a narrow surface. For this reason, they are generally made of wear-resistant chromium steel. They can also be made of stainless steel (inox) if required. The cage that holds the balls can be made of steel, polyamide or even brass. This product is known for its ability to withstand high speeds and low loads, unlike roller bearings, which can withstand high loads and lower speeds.
These products meet the requirements of a multitude of applications. In fact, you can find these product models on the following applications:
- Household
- industrial
- Agriculture
- Machinery
- Leisure
- Office
- Vehicles
- Tools
Today, there are a multitude of ball bearings available. They can be single- or double-row, radial contact or angular contact. Single-row radial contact ball bearings (also known as deep groove ball bearings) are the most commonly used, as they offer the best value for money.
As for single-row angular contact ball bearings, they retain the same advantages, but can support a higher axial load.
Whichever type of bearing you choose, it can be either open or sealed, depending on your requirements. Unsealed steel ball bearings can withstand temperatures of up to 120°. Standard 2RS models, on the other hand, can withstand temperatures of up to 80°. The advantage of using sealed bearings is that they are lubricated for life and require no special maintenance.
Ball bearings are a necessary part of many applications and industries. Whether on the wheels of your cars, bicycles, machine tools or agricultural equipment, they are indispensable components. When choosing these bearings, you need to take into account a number of factors:
- Dimensions
- environment
- Technical constraints
- Rotation speed
- Load supported
In most cases, bearing identification is straightforward. The reference is often inscribed directly on the bearing's inner or outer ring, or on the seal/metal flange.
If this is not the case, it will be necessary to take the dimensions of this product. To do this, you need to measure the inside diameter, outside diameter and thickness. We recommend that you always use a caliper to take your measurements, so that they are as accurate as possible. We give you all the information you need to measure your bearing correctly here. RS, 2RS, 2RSH, 2RS1, RSR, 2RSR, E, EE, LLU, LLB, DU, DDU
These suffixes mean "with 1 or 2 rubber seals". This seal protects the bearings from splashing water. At 123Bearing, we use the number "2" to indicate that the bearing is sealed on both sides.
ZZ, 2Z, ZR, Z
These suffixes mean "with 1 or 2 sheet metal deflectors", for dust-tightness. At 123Bearing, we specify whether bearings are sealed on 2 sides with "ZZ".
C3, C4
Means "increased internal clearance". Often referred to as high-speed, this means that the bearing is designed for high speeds and moderately high temperatures. CAUTION: a bearing with increased internal clearance will not operate optimally at low speeds. We invite you to refer to the technical data sheet of the products you are looking for to find out their RPM limit.
TN9, TVH, TVP, G15, FG
These suffixes indicate that the cage (the part of the bearing that holds the balls apart) is made of a polymer material. Usually made of glass-fiber-reinforced polyamide.
ABEC
The ABEC standard is used to classify bearings according to their machining tolerance. This standard is regularly called into question because it does not include certain technologies that are important for guaranteeing correct operation, both in terms of efficiency and bearing life. 123Bearing therefore makes little use of this standard.
Are you looking for a bearing that's watertight (2RS), dusttight (ZZ), with increased clearance (C3-C4-C5) or in a specific material such as stainless steel or ceramic? At 123Bearing, we offer you a vast choice of these products with different specifications to suit your needs. In fact, we specialize in online bearing sales and offer a wide range of products. JTEKT, SKF, ZEN, FAG, NSK, NTN, SNR, INA, TIMKEN, NKE are just some of the brands we offer. You can select the product you need according to part number or dimensions, brand, bearing type, load capacity or speed.
